Changelog

Every Pelmet release, newest first. The current version is 0.8.1.

  1. 0.8.1

    Current
    • FixedPelmet no longer reports a collapse it did not perform. macOS 27 draws the whole menu bar as a single composited window, so the ╱ divider cannot push anything past the screen edge and no third-party app can hide what is in the bar. Pelmet now detects that at runtime and says so on the chevron, in the right-click menu, in Make Room and in Settings, instead of flipping to the collapsed chevron over a menu bar that never changed. Reported in pelmet#46.
    • FixedOn macOS 27 a collapsed state saved on an earlier macOS is undone at launch rather than restored as a state the menu bar cannot be in, and auto-rehide no longer retries a collapse that cannot happen. Hiding icons is unchanged on macOS 13 through 26.
  2. 0.8.0

    • AddedSoftware-island support. Pelmet recognizes Vibe Island automatically and lets other persistent top-center overlay apps be enabled and calibrated locally, without Screen Recording or Accessibility permission. Thanks to Yurii Rashkovskii (@yrashk) for contributing this feature in pelmet#43.
    • AddedA stable resting-width calibration keeps transient hover expansion from changing coverage, while slider adjustments update the covered-icon count live.
    • ChangedThe hidden-icon count, Shelf, one-click access, and make-room guidance now work with physical camera notches and enabled software islands.
    • FixedSoftware-island lifecycle, multi-display detection, toggle stability, and settings availability no longer depend on an unrelated icon-count change.
  3. 0.7.0

    • AddedCustom shortcuts. Record your own combination for hide-and-show and for the Shelf in Settings → General → Shortcuts, or clear either one entirely. Still no Accessibility permission. Pelmet checks a combination before accepting it and names what is in the way: macOS itself, Pelmet's other action, or another app that already claimed it. Shortcut labels follow your keyboard layout. Existing installs keep ⌥⌘B and ⌥⌘N with nothing to do.
